Additional bits

Just thought that I would put up some photos of some things we have made in the past... to give a better idea as to what we are capable of!

A little silk "box" made using a pattern which appeared in the Stitch magazine some time ago now. The panels are some "gold" mesh with a water soluble fabric flower and beads added. Tassels are made from string which has had zig-zag stitching sewn down it. Feet are little cotton balls painted with a "gold" paint. This little box gave me ideas of granduer and some other members and I made versions of larger "boxes". Unfortunately, I only have photos of mine!!

Using silk fabrics, as always, this one was made as a 21st birthday present and the favourite colours of the recipient are lemon and blue. Five sided, with lovely chunky beads ... so enjoyed making this one.

This one I made for my best friend for her 60th birthday. She loves, loves, loves all things red and roses too! Silk, inside and out ... of course ... five sided again and each side has a different embroidery technique on it. This side is s "voided" gold work rose.

Roses worked in silk ribbon ...

Dog rose in shaded stitching using silk threads...

Water soluble roses... machine embroidery onto water soluble fabric and then molded into shape... leaves worked in the same way.

Bullion knots to make the roses ... this one side gave me the worst fears as bullion knots are not the easiest things to do well.

And last, but not least, this rose ... made from water soluble fabric and machine embroidery ... was inside the box. A rose that would never fade...

These are heirloom pieces and yes, I have used silk fabrics, threads and sometimes cotton threads (for the machine embroidery), but all natural fibres. Silk lasts ... outlasts us!
Always use the very best that you can afford, it pays off. The look of the finished article and the pleasure you get from working with the best too.

Come and join us ... anytime. Everyone welcome.
