This meeting was our A.G.M. and although it doesn't usually take long, it has to take preference over everything else.
We proceeded to go down the Agenda quite nicely and a few decisions were made. Voting for the three officers went as follows:-
Secretary.... Proposed J. Allott, by M.J. Allott; seconded by S. Whitehead and voted by the members present. A yes vote was cast.
Treasurer... Proposed S. Whitehead by R. Sparrow, seconded by S. Parratt-Halbert and voted by the members present. A yes vote was cast.
Chairperson... Proposed M. J. Allott by S. Whitehead, seconded by L. Bowers and voted by the members present. A yes vote was cast.
The voting concluded with no changes in the offers being made for the coming year.
Also decided were the fees for the coming year and are as follows:-
Full Membership .... £15.00
Half Year Membership £10.00
Visitor fees £ 3.00
It was also agreed that a "sub" of £1.00p to be payable for each visit made for members. This is to help stop the decline in the funds. Voted by the members present.
Our annual "exhibition" is to take place in Thorne Memorial Park during the summer festival on the 28th July 2012. Voted by the members present.
A discussion also took place regarding the programme for the coming year and a programme was decided upon by all the members present.
Some of the new members took the opportunity to fill in the questionnaire form which asks which subjects members would like to learn, are already "good" at, or are not interested in. The results were very interesting.
The meeting ran for much longer than normal, but was very productive and should lead us into an interesting year.
Paper bead making was undertaken during the remaining time and the meeting closed at 5pm.
The February meeting will take place on the 18th, at our usual meeting place and time. We will be furthering the paper bead making.

Efforts from 2011
A decorated D.A.R.N.i.T. bag. The other side has our logo printed on. Beautifully stitched.
Another one! Buttons and ribbon on a hand dyed background fabric.
I love this one! It is so funny... all hand stitched too! Look carefully...
A patchwork pincushion. All hand stitched too!
A matching scissor keeper.
Crocheted snood/scarf. A winter warmer for the ski slopes!
A beautifully beaded scissor keeper with handmade tassel.
Felt key ring ... I would love it as a scissor keeper!! All hand stitched.
How about this for a scarf!!!! Lots of different yarns have been used and it has produced a wonderfully textured wearable piece of art. It was made as a Christmas present.
A "man" thing! It is a case for a mobile (I think), or a tiny camera ... The "logo" is the signature of the maker... look out for it ! Made from suiting and hand stitched.
Suiting used here too and this is the other ... either or!
Yes! You guessed... another scissor keeper and made out of silk with beaded decoration and "that" signature!
A bunch of flowers made with silk, using the Clover flower makers.
Another D.A.R.N.i.T. decorated canvas bag.
The logo side of our shopping bags.
One of those frilly scarves...
A scarf of bobbles!! So warm and soft.
Shades of rich red for another frilly scarf...
Another frilly scarf on the way .... for me!
Needle tatted butterflies...
A little outfit for a gorgeous little girl...
"Extreme" knitted hand bag with needle felted flower decorations.
Another "extreme" knitted handbag with needle felted flower decorations.
A pure silk top...
Needle tatted mini doilies...
Well, I think that you would all have to agree that we didn't do too bad this last year! What a selection and what wonderfully clever people we have as members. There is so much to learn and so little time to learn it all in.
We will all look forward to you comments.
Thank you for stopping by and we hope that you have enjoyed looking at our "efforts". I will be searching the archives to see what I have missed, so watch this space for some more creations!!
WELCOME TO 2012
A very Happy New Year to you all.
I hope you all had a great Christmas with pressies you wanted and then spent the New Year celebrating with loved ones.
New Year for D.A.R.N.i.T. begins with our A.G.M. on the 21st. Thorne Methodist Chapel Meeting Rooms, King Street, Thorne, Doncaster. Meeting begins at 1pm and the A.G.M. will start at 1.30pm.
There will be the usual welcome to our "old" members and we hope, an even warmer welcome to new members. The A.G.M. covers all the usual things and is opened with a "speech" from the Chairperson. This is followed by a report from the Secretary and the Treasurer. As we are a very small charity, this does not take too long. Our "other business" includes voting for the officers, yearly fees, the programme and visitor fees. All this takes no longer than an hour .... usually! A break for a cuppa and biscuits, then we take on a project. At our last meeting, in November, we decided to make our own beads, using magazines, paper and the like and we will begin this project after the conclusion of the meeting. Finishing these beads will happen at our February meeting.
Requirements for the bead making:-
Magazines, coloured papers, or similar products.
PVA glue.
Metal knitting needle.... the size (thickness) will be the size of the hole down the centre of the bead.
Paper cutting equipment. Do not use good scissors!
Ruler.
Patience!
Hope to see you there!
Results of the project will be shown after the February meeting. The full programme will also be put on then too. Something to watch out for!
