The project for June and July is a "utility wrap". Members decided that this could be for knitting needles, crochet hooks, bobbin lace bobbins etc. To make sure that I would have time for those "slower" members next month, I have managed to finish mine, so I will be chief "helper" in July!! :)
The outer fabric is a piece of Kaffe Fassett design, a piece I received free! The inner fabric is good old calico and the "holders" are made from black cotton tape and then stitched to the correct sizes for my jumbo knitting needles and crochet hooks. I have made the largest holder to fit a 20mm needle and the same for the crochet hooks.
Will now have to wait a whole month before I can see any of the others!! Should be another photo, or two at least.
Thanks for dropping by and don't forget ... you can be a distance member!!

April and May
The project for April and May was to make a pin cushion. As several members had never made a "Biscornu" type pin cushion, we decided that those of us who wanted to, would make one.
Here is a finished one.
Made with Aida count 14. The stitching is cross stitch and done with a silk thread. As Aida would show the stuffing, it has been lined and stuffed with two metal pan scrubs. This helps to keep the pins and needled sharp and clean.
I just love this shape and it is so very easy to do to!

Another update
Well, we have had our June meeting and although the numbers were small, it was a great meeting! Busy fingers all round and busy tongues too.. :)
Thought that I would bring everything up to date, so here goes. In January and February we made the needle case and in March we held our belated 5th Birthday Exhibition. Here are one or two photos of our display.
Just a few close ups. Some fantastic hand and machine embroidery was on show. We had a great day.

2011 First Project
Just a little taster! We began our year with the making of a needle case and this is one of them. Will get photos of some of the others as soon as I can, but meanwhile, here is the one I made.
Opened fully.
Closed!
I have a number of needle cases. One for the sharps, one for the canvas work, one for dressmaking etc.,
This one was made from canvas and worked in silk threads. The case is lined and has four felt "leaves" inside. A Florentine stitch pattern was used.
Canvas was from "stash" and the threads were bought from Oliver Twists.
